stephanie is: about to shower for bed…
work was fine… pretty light day since less people need us to watch their dogs while they were off of work. we had around 55 dogs boarding, 30 of which went home throughout the day, and 1 whole daycare dog. i suspect tomorrow will be back to the normal craziness as people go back to their regular routines. oh, i guess those two new guys already quit… at least they stopped showing up 2 days ago. nice.

i was super spent when i got home… just hadn’t slept well/enough the night before, so i took a nap while danny finished up him “night’s” sleep. we got up at 8pm and i made us sammiches while he showered and dressed for work.

my after dinner activity was to make collar #2. danny chose which fabric i should use next. he didn’t make it easy for me – that color really shows the stitches so i had my new skills put to the test. i am proud of how it came out! my stitch boxes look strong and even.

india has been wearing the cherry collar for 24 hours and she seems really comfortable in it. she should be – there is only one seam on the inside and i hand stitched it smooth so if a very short hair dog were wearing it, they would have no irritation. i want to start making these colors for people, so i am going to keep practicing. i’ll need to buy hardware for smaller sizes though.

i am considering getting my dance on on thursday night since i am off but danny works. is anyone going? i know you all like your saturday nights better, but i work on sundays and when i don’t (or work later like this week) i need to spend time with danny or i’ll die. for real. so let me know if any of you are going. you know my lame ass can’t drive into the city so…

i need to go shower my hair bleach out. i can buy myself a few more weeks before rebraiding by bleaching my naturally dark blond roots to match the light blonde of the extension hair. and it eats away at all the dead skin stuck on my scalp thanks to getting burned in california. mmm… bleachy.

tonight i made my first fabric dog collar… i choose a dark fabric for my first try since i know i’d have some hiccups while trying to convince my old sewing machine to sew through 12 layers of fabric/interfacing. i think i’ve figured out a few things to try to make collar number two better. i have to sew this box shape with an X through it two times per collar – the first one i went too slow on and the machine jammed. when it unjammed it spewed thread all over. i went fast on the second one (the visable one, phew) and it looks perfect.

i worked today… i work tomorrow. someone has to watch the puppies while you three-day-weekend having people are off having fun. i get paid time-and-a-half for tomorrow. i guess i should go to bed now that my web work is done. seeing as how i get up in 6 hours. yeah.

people never capture pics from the show anymore… it used to be that nearly the whole thing was saved. a very good thing since my computer chokes when people all tune in at once to watch. like just now… it was a good show but my computer saved 0 pictures and only a handful we saved by members. so i hope you watched it live if you were interested, since there aren’t enough pictures now for a gallery in the future… times like these make doing shows very unworthwhile – especially since i get maybe one or two people who give me feedback per show and my site does not make money (nor do i try to make it make more – i have a full time job and freelance work to deal with). now i am all grumpy and chocolate cake didn’t even fix it. and since i am already whining, i have american idol on tivo to watch but within 2 seconds of opening my friends page i saw who won

everyone should go to my previous entry and post things that have made them smile this month, because reading those made me happy…

the cam show will be late because the cam puter froze – and it takes 15+ minutes to restart at the minimum. it is old ass (pre-usb) and pretty fucked up. i had even turned off the streaming so it wouldn’t get overloaded during the show, but as soon as i turned the sound on so i’d know when the pictures were taking it froze. so very lame.

stephanie is: sniffly and hoarse…
so, i work the evening and late night shift on thursday, so i am scheduling a cam show for wednesday night (since i don’t have to be up at 5:20 am the next morning). i’ll probably take a photo set with my digital camera before or after as well.

my work schedule is going to be kinda weird next week since one of the girls there is getting married and three others are attending. i will be one of the only people left that is familiar with running the front desk so i’ll be working my second saturday shift ever to do that from 9 – 5. i have no clue how saturdays work… i haven’t done one since my 5th day there back in the fall. saturday i normally work 8 am – 3 pm, but instead i’ll be filling in for the bride who normally does the 2 pm – 11 pm late night shift. i don’t know if i’ll have to still get up at the ass crack of dawn for work the next day. they might have me do 9am instead. i’ll have to see when they post the schedule. this sunday i am going in a bit early- i think to open since they mentioned me getting the key from the manager this week (i got called on my drive home today). i am probably working memorial day since the manager mentioned she thinks she’ll need the more senior staff there with nearly 30 boarding dogs getting picked up. but i also said that if someone needs the hours more i am fine with having off. i think that is all the weirdness so far… i know that no one (besides possibly danny since we like to actually see each other every now and then) is interested in this, but i like to have it written down somewhere in case i want to look back on it.

i’m not in bed yet because i took a nice long nap after work (still fighting off my cold, though finally starting to feel better) and it takes a while before i am tired enough to sleep again. my body is usually fine with that so long as all my hours of sleep add up to something decent.

on saturday danny decided to wash his car. so i took each of the dogs for a quick walk (too hot for a long walk) while the other hung out with him on a tie-down. normally we would have hung out with him till he was done, but it was too hot for them out there despite them drinking a couple bowls full of water.

on our way to the airport for our flight home from california, we stopped at the long beach aquarium (because i have an aquarium obsession). it was way to over-priced for what they offered, but oh well… i liked it anyway. normally i like to get to aquariums right went they open, but we had to time it so it was before our afternoon flight since the airport was so close and we had spent the night before in burbank. there were many buss-loads of school kids there, ew. here is a movie (reduced in quality for this entry) of me quickly (since danny was leaving me in the dust) filming a tunnel we walked through. i left the sound on it because there was this dorky guy (the first one you see, with the jacket over his shoulder) who at first said “hi mom!” when he realized i panned by him, then right at i stopped it he shoved his way over in front of my camera and started fixing his hair and saying “does my hair look okay?”, hah. i wish i hadn’t stopped it right then because i would have left that in.

so my nail polish (clear, to protect my nails from the cleaning products and bath water at work) is dry enough so i am going to go to bed. see you tomorrow for the cam show (around 11 pm i think)… if you need to renew, try to do so before 10 pm so i have time to process you. if you aren’t in to joining, i’m sure i’ll post a few snaps here afterwards…

i am home… i’ve been fighting a rotten cold. landing was not fun during our flight home. that was the worst head pain i’d ever felt. like a migraine times 10. i was sobbing. i honestly was checking to see if my ears were bleeding. when my worst ear finally popped about 20 seconds before landing i nearly jumped out of my skin.

work was fine today… a lot of cleaning, as sunday’s always are. i got to spend time with my boyfriend, charlie. they have been doing construction and enlarging the “lounge”… it is weird having it nearly twice the size.

on the way home from work, cicadas kept flying into my windshield. dumbasses. *thud* *thud* *plonk* *plink* ..no splats, thankfully. this is what i heard when i got out of my car. i’ve only seen a couple face-to-face though…

i’ll be getting my california pictures up in the next few days… i need time though – there are over 90 of them.

the trip was really nice, but we didn’t have enough time to spend with all our friends and family out there. and i never got to wear my bikini! *pout* anyone have a pool…? i am pretty freckly from all the sun (despite wearing sunscreen). here is a picture of my freckles after only one walk in the sun (without sunscreen that time i think). warning, it is straight from my camera so it is 2,240K. pardon my pores.

it is time for me to pretend that nyquil is still helping, since i get up at 5:20am for work tomorrow… night night.

we’ve been up and down southern california visiting relatives… i wish we had more time to spend with them. the week has gone by so fast.

someone gave me a cold *cough*mark*cough* so flying home tomorrow will be fun.

i finally saw a famous person… hugh hefner and several of his girlies ate dinner at the table beside us tonight. he looks damn good for his age. sorry, no pictures… his security guy freaked out when a girl came up to their table with a camera. it was one of the girl’s birthday but they brought out the big piece of cake while she was in the bathroom. they barely touched it anyway.

we get home late late tomorrow night… i miss my animals and my bed. it will be tough getting back into work-mode though.
