Enjoy the Silence

Oh, Snap!

I hate that I never write anymore… I am constantly composing journal entries in my head, so why not post them?

I’m not sure. I wonder if I am just unmotivated to post due to the lack of an audience. While I am certainly much busier with work than I was a few years ago, gone are the days when every personal site seemed to bring you instant internet infamy. And, while I’m not an attention whore, I think I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t an exhibitionist of some sort. How can one be a cam girl in the “good old days” and not be an exhibitionist? (Though I suppose I was in the minority in that I didn’t get naked or need antidepressants.)

I think I’ve finally realized that my lack of motivation to take photos, do cam shows, write online and just update my site in general is in direct correlation to the internet’s lack of interest. But, I don’t know if that is a bad thing or not. Is life worth writing about publicly if no one reads it? If a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound?

Hmm…

  1. Even with all the latest tech out on the Internet I’ve been thinking the same thing. The internet has gotten a lot less interesting in the past few years.

    We might be getting… old.

    • I think it’s signal-to-noise. With blogs and livejournal and flickr and myspace and youtube and what have you, it almost seems as though everyone’s life is on the internet, rather than just the people who were motivated, early on, to be interesting (I don’t claim to be one of those myself) or at least novel.

  2. I read every single word you type, and look at every single pic you post!

but you probably already knew that 😉

  3. Well I can say that I miss your postings and shows and such. Many times you’ve been the bright spot in an otherwise dismal day.

So, now that you know there is interest, when can we expect a new show.

    🙂

  4. I skim through peoples entries so I know whats going on in my LJ friends world. You sound like you’re too busy to devote much time to LJ and other online things. It’s nice to hear when things are going well and being a photo person I enjoy the pics you put up occasionally. Don’t beat youself over the head for not be too chatty on LJ.

  5. Well, I read…

… each of your entries. I guess, the “signal-to-noise” theory sounds pretty applying. I recognized this “lack of motivation” a little bit by myself, as same as at many of my LJ-friends. People get accounts at Myspace, create a regular Blog(non-LJ), DeviantArt account, Fotolog, Orkut, Facebook and so on. That divides their attention. I also guess, it makes the reader sometimes a bit tired to check into each place to check back on your LJ friends.

Anyway, keep your site running and continue with posting into your LJ, this general lack of motivation of everyone might be hopefully only a temporal thing. ^_^

  6. Add another to the list of “don’t always comment but always read”.

I was never much for camshows but I miss your writing. I loved the vacation shots. And there can never be too many doggie pictures 🙂

  7. i’ve been visiting your site since 1999 and i still love to read your posts and look at your photos. i miss the way your site used to be but i also know that everyone grows and changes so obviously things will become different.

  8. I’m still here reading your lj, etc! I’ve noticed with the advent of Myspace and those other community sites, now everyone can have their own site. As much as people love being voyeurs, I think they like being looked at even more. And now that webcams are so ubiquitous, it’s taken away the “wow” factor, since they are everywhere. Ugh so sad. I saw the writing on the wall last year, and just sort of stopped doing much with my site since I felt like no one cared. Ugh so sad! We should come up with a fancy new idea to make things fresh and new. I just have no idea what it would be!

  9. like everyone above me, I still read everything you post, I just lack at comments.
But I would like to complain about too few punquin photos. After all you ARE the one who got me into livejournal and then photography with your pictures…

  10. like everyone else in the world, i still check in on your journal daily and your site often 🙂 miss playing animal crossing with you! hehe.

  11. reader but rare poster…

    Hi !
I have read your writing for years, and love your photos and photo skills. But life gets hectic. Maybe you are So good at the webstuff, it’s not as interesting ? Please keep it up. Lots of excellent people eventually wander away, and I miss them. But if it seems a chore, try something new with it.
