Money Songs

In April, I am hosting a party at our house for my friend Laura’s birthday. She came up with the party theme of money – both in excess and the lack there of. Everything will be green and gold and silver. We are suggesting that guests dress either filthy rich or dirt poor. Champagne and 40′s in paper bags!

This afternoon I spent time going through both Dan’s large cd/mp3 collection and available songs on iTunes to come up with a possible play list for the party (for before we turn on Rock Band).

Books: Stardust by Neil Gaiman

StardustThanks to Paper Back Swap, I just read “Stardust” by Neil Gaiman. I have not seen the movie, but the movie trailer did make it seem like they changed quite a lot.

It was a fun, little read. Short – it really only took a couple hours to read all together. It’s a fairy tale geared more for adults. I really enjoyed the world he created, but I felt like it could have been a longer book if he hadn’t just glossed over all the details. The epilogue was lame, as they often are, and zoomed through decades to wrap things up in a was that made a sequel seem unlikely.

I’d recommend it as a quick weekend read. I was sad that it went so fast!

Do you have any book recommendations for me?

Stereotypes and Differences

After reading an article and doing some self-reflection, I am curious as to whether people think differences in libido are mostly a male/female thing or a personality/individual thing.

Myself, I fall into what could be considered stereotypical for a woman – if I don’t get hugs, kisses and physical affection outside of the bedroom, I’m
not going to be that inspired in it. I assume the “male” stereotype is that you think about sex and are ready to go.

I dislike stereotypes, but this is one I fit into. Another is my astrological sign. It’s hard to imagine everyone born in the same month having the same personality, but I very much fit the description of a Cancer.

What do you think of gender/libido stereotypes? Is there truth to them? It does seem like there needs to be enough truth for a stereotype to come into being..

Sorry for any spelling errors – I’m not on a computer.
