Contains 331 photos. Here’s what was happening in my life 10 years ago, via my webcam. This was the first month I braided my hair after our hyper rotti mix puppy bit a chunk out of the back. October 2001 Apple Picking
Contains 25 photos. Today was a super beautiful autumn day to go apple picking! We drove out to Crooked Run Orchard after breakfast. I didn’t bring a baby carrier, but it turned out for the best. Jax wanted to be down and go, go, going! A big difference from last year when he’d just learned to sit up! I carried him out to the main orchard and then let him explore while Danny picked braeburn and mutsu apples. It was quiet and peaceful – I only saw a few other groups in passing once we were deep in the rows of trees. Like last year, I got to nurse Jax out in sunny nature. It was very sweet and hippie-dippie! At first I … The Dust Will Settle Soon…Yeah, things are changing here. Here’s the short and sweet of it: I was losing the battle to try to get 13 years of photos and content re-added to my members after switching it over to WordPress. I was running into a lot of road blocks and running low on time! Since I had to downgrade to one webcam that is part-time (I nurse at the computer, so it has to be off a lot) and not a lot of content was up yet, it wasn’t making sense to keep the password protection up. The password management system was a huge thorn in Danny’s side and was throwing non-stop errors into the logs. The final straw was when Danny recently upgraded PHP on the server. Things broke, and I wasn’t really sad they did. I was ready to say goodbye to ancient (and often unsafe now) code and start fresh. So here is the final plan… We moved the blog to be the main landing page for the site. If you subscribe to my feed or have the blog bookmarked, you may need to update your links. You can catch the feed here. I will be posting personal diary entries and photos, plus featuring old entries and content from throughout Stvlive’s history several times a week. It’s going to be some serious blast-from-the-past business up in here, people! I think this will be a fun way to gradually add content back to the site. The webcam is now simple and sweet. Check it out up there at the top of the page! I added a Twitter button so you can say hi if I’m on the camera or just send me a message. Anything with @punquin will get tome right away. I plan to have the majority of the About Stephanie section done by the end of the weekend, including my updated life story. The majority of craft and parenting posts will be on my family blog, and I will link to some featured posts regularly. There may be some cross-posting at times, but I’ll try to keep things pretty fresh here. So… What do you think? And, can you believe I started this site in March of 1998?! Here are some recent posts over on Imagine Our Life:
Old School StephanieI posted about this old photo over on my family-friendly blog… It’s mini me! Our Morning Adventures
I drove out to one of Jax’s favorite playgrounds that has an airplane theme. After playing for a while, we sat in the breeze and shared a mango smoothie. We walked hand-in-hand to the pet store for crickets and he pulled my hand to his mouth and gave me a loud kiss: “Mwah!!” So sweet. On our way home, I saw a large Collie running across the road. I pulled over into a turn lane by the median, but he had already crossed the other side of the road. I was able to U-turn and park in another turn lane near where he was sniffing. I popped the back of my SUV and crouched down to call him. He was super sweet and came running to me. I helped him into the car, then got in the backseat to call the number on his tags. Turns out he wasn’t too far from home – well, his new home. His address was listed as Omaha (we are in Virginia!), but his new address was only a couple minutes’ drive away. His mom had her son meet me outside so I could deliver him safe and sound. I was happy to help a dog in need! I can’t let a dog run around in the street without stopping to help.
Weekend Road Trip to NY
Contains 10 photos. We just took a trip to New York last weekend. Jax did really well on the drive to Long Island. We drove up on a Thursday. On Friday, Dan dropped his car off to get some work done (the main reason for the trip) and we hopped on the train into Manhattan. It was hot, hot, hot! I wore Jax in the baby carrier the entire time and he did so well! He is like his daddy with how much he sweats, but like me in that he turns red when he gets too hot. So when he would start to get too hot, we made sure to take a break in the air conditioner. In a place like NYC, … We were in a flash mob!Check out my post about our flash mob experience on Imagine Our Life! Happy Summer!Happy summer, everyone! My Mother’s Trinkets
Contains 6 photos. My aunt brought boxes of my mother’s belongings for my brother and I when she visited. I sent most on to my brother to look through and enjoy before I take anything he doesn’t want, but I pulled some of the tinier things and duplicates so I can make a shadow box. Buttons, girl scout pins, little dolls, handkerchiefs… It’s all so dear to me after losing her at a young age. Has anyone made a shadow box before? I am thinking of doing one with compartments, but I could also do several small squares collage-style. Here is some vintage shadow box inspiration form around the web: Remember Charlotte?
