Fires…

California… I don’t even know what to say. It’s just so frightening and terrible that fires like that can happen. Even looking at the photos, I can’t wrap my brain around the destruction it can cause. We have the news on while we work, and I am blinking back tears. Our thoughts are with our California friends and family. Dan’s uncle and his wife have been evacuated from San Diego, as well as the surrogate who is carrying their twins.

We have a vacation in California planned for the second week in November. At this point, we aren’t sure if we’ll need to cancel. The trip would have us starting in northern CA and traveling down to San Diego (where we would fly out of to return home.) We certainly won’t go if it is unsafe, but if we are able to go, I hope that we would be able to lend a hand in any way we can when we get down to San Diego.

When it comes down to it, what do you take when you have 10 minutes to evacuate your home? In the end, I suppose the only thing that would really matter to me is my family and pets.

  1. Yep, sux big time.
I have a sister and nephew in San Diego too. So far no evac (yet) but who knows. Thankfully the rest of my relatives down there are further north or north and inland.
