Four-Eyes

Hey, look! I’m still posting!

I is all yucky and icy outside. we had about two inches of snow followed by an inch of ice. Danny carved my car out of it this morning so I could go to my eye appointment. I was due for an annual exam, plus I have had a lot of ocular migraines lately.

I had to go to a new doctor this time, as we have different insurance. Last year, I used my insurance to pick out a more adult, classy pair of glasses with the intention of getting a funkier pair when I was eligible for a new pair.

The doctor told me my prescription has changed slightly (it seems to wobble back and forth between the same .25) but not enough to cause all my problems. She recommended reading glasses for the computer. I am holding off on those for now since I was using the glasses I am eligible for to get my new prescription. She said I could try just having my glasses off when reading. Everything else looked good. She told me to keep an even more detailedmigraine diary in case they don’t improve and I need to see a neurologist. I did pay $30 extra for a neurological vision test and photos of my retinas. All was good.

It was my second time getting glasses at an eye doctor’s office. I’m still not quite used to it, but it’s nice. You just sit down and they bring you frames to try. I told her I wanted rectangular, plastic and funky. But, no bling, giant logos or thick arms that obscure my peripheral vision. I tried on about 2 or 3 dozen pairs and ended up choosing the very first pair that had caught my eye when I walked in. It is very similar to the pair I had wanted to get last year when I went with the simple, classy pair. That one had been black with orange on the inside. The one I just ordered is a dark burgundy color, good for my green eyes, with an aqua blue color inside. They look simple and clean from the front, but from an angle you see the fun, funky blue. I love them! And, they said my older prescription is close enough for me to keep the same lenses in my other pair for now.

They quoted me a date of 02/06/09 for picking up my glasses. That is the sucky part when you are used to “glasses in an hour!” But, last year I had to wait nearly 3 weeks. I’m excited to get them!

    • The first thing I asked was if I could buy pre-made readers. Unfortunately, because of my astigmatism, I can’t. If I wore contacts AND the readers, I could. But, I’m more comfortable in glasses because of allergies.

  1. Yeah for posting !
I think those look pretty nice, and worth waiting for. I was told years ago that the 1-hour places don’t always do the best work, but I also have glass lenses.
Depending on how close you are to your screen, ‘reading’ glasses might be a good idea. That’s what works for me. Next pair will be …Bi-focals.
    Sigh…old eyes.
