We will soon have a bald baby. It’s so sad to see his soft newborn hair coming out in clumps. But, I’m curious to see the new hair that grows in. Maybe he’ll be blonde?

Our little man has doubled his birth weight! At 14 weeks old, he weighs in at 14 lbs. I’m still exclusively breastfeeding him, which certainly isn’t the easiest route at times, but I’m willing to put in the work. He’s a big comfort-nurser, which has me up with him at least 2 times a night before sunrise. That and his internal alarm clock that’s set to 5am. 
Jax had snowsuits when he arrived home from the hospital, but all of them (whether newborn or 0-3) were way too huge to wear. Dan was bummed Jax never got to wear the cute gray bear suit he picked out. Well, it fits now… just in time for summer! I had to take a photo because he is just too cute.

3 Months Old
May 10th, 2010We had a great time at the beach! It went way too fast, of course. Jackson loves “swimming” (being carried around in the pool). I swear he grew like a weed while we were gone. My first Mother’s Day was spent driving home from the beach. Bummer! We would have gladly stayed another week.
On the 5th Jax turned 3 months old! Time is sure flying… He has started losing all that super soft hair he was born with. I miss it already! He has been “talking” all the time. Here is a video of him cooing at his toy.

Jax’s First Vacation

We made it in one piece to the Outer Banks in NC. Jax had some melt downs towards the end of the drive, but he was a trooper.
We just enjoyed our first full day here. We walked on the beach, went swimming and rested by the pool (Jax and I in the shade). Jax did well in the pool. It was cooler than his baths, but heated.
We are looking forward to a week of no stress and lots of relaxing!

11 Weeks Old!

Little Jax is not so little anymore… He’s tipping the scales at 12.5 lbs now. Our beefcake baby! Needless to say, breastfeeding is going well.
Jax is doing well at night. He wakes up after 3 or 4 hours, then 2 or 3, and wakes up wanting to be in our arms around 6 or 7 am. Happy baby coos make mornings bearable!
For the past couple of weeks, Jax and I have been going to yoga together, at a special Mommy/Baby class. He has been in a must-be-with-mommy phase lately, so it’s the only way I can keep up with yoga. We are having a lot of fun doing our moves both together and separate.

Next weekend, Jax is going on his first vacation to the Outer Banks. Wish us luck on the drive down with two adults, two big dogs and a baby. Hah! We can’t wait to be at the beach! He will turn 3 months old while we are there and I will celebrate my first Mother’s Day.

8 Weeks Old!
April 2nd, 2010Today, little Jax is 8 weeks old (2 months on Monday!) He is doing great, and the doctor says he is very healthy. I am still exclusively breast feeding, and he has gained over 2 lbs in the past month. He’s now 10 lbs 11 oz.
We are starting to see more and more smiles. They are the best thing in the world!

7 Weeks!
March 25th, 2010Jackson will be 7 weeks tomorrow, and he’s doing great. He has started smiling a lot and looking/grabbing at his toys. He has his great grandparents visiting, and he is loving it!
We’ve started putting him in his nursery at night. Some nights are good, most are not. We are working on a routine, so I’m sure it will get better. Eventually.

Growing Boy!
March 17th, 2010Jackson is doing great! His favorite hobbies are eating and growing. He is around 10 lbs now and will be 6 weeks old on Friday.
We are both working again – me from home. Jax is an angel during the day and makes it easy for me. Nighttime is hit or miss. Some nights he will go right to sleep when we lay him down, some nights he has to be held to sleep. He is breast fed, so nighttime is mommy’s responsibility. He wakes up around 2 times during the night if he eats right before bed and first thing in the morning.
We are finally having some well-deserved spring weather, so Jax has been going on walks with us. We are looking forward to his great grandparents visit next week!

Jax is great, though he is hungry all the time which gets in the way of sleep. He loves taking warm baths now. He is really good at riding in his baby carriers – he is finally big enough to ride with his daddy in the Baby Bjorn. Right now he is snoozing on my lap.
