Baby kicking and my tummy growling!

Originally uploaded by punquin

Here is a terrible video taken this morning in bed with my cell phone. The baby was moshing so hard my belly was moving. Watch the curve up my belly just past the tip of my thumb in the second half of the video. You’ll see a few kicks! The noise is my tummy saying, “Get up and feed me!”

Today’s Outfit, originally uploaded by punquin.

I am 21 weeks today! My latest milestone – as of yesterday – is feeling the baby kick while I am standing up. Until now, I’d only felt him while sitting or laying. He is a super active little guy! I felt a few kicks last night at work when I was standing at the front desk installing printer drivers. And, this morning, while checking out at the grocery store (prune juice, yuck) he was kicking some more. Fun!

On Saturday we got the nursery painted. Danny did the large spaces with the roller and I did all the edging. There are a lot of edges in a room with 3 doors, 2 windows, a ceiling and a floor! It looks really sweet and calming.

I’m growing out of all of my clothes! All of my shirts are getting too short to wrap around the belly. Doh.

20 Weeks!, originally uploaded by punquin.

I made it to the halfway point – 20 weeks – yesterday! I just got back from my 5 month doctor’s appointment this morning. Everything looked good… My uterus has made it up to my belly button, which is right on target. Baby’s heartbeat sounded good, though he was squirming away, as usual.

Baby boy is very very active, pretty much whenever I am awake. Everything from little kicks and rolls to full on body slams. He really likes beating Danny’s hand when we are laying in bed.

It’s October! I love October… However, we found out last night that Danny’s brother and his wife have to cancel their trip out to see us this month due to a family emergency. A big bummer, and we are sending good thoughts their way. I am hoping to still do all the fun autumn stuff we’d planned, like see the mountains and go to a farm for pumpkins and apples.

We picked out our nursery paint, “Chinese Jade”, so we need to do that soon. We’ve also started on our baby registries. So much to think about, geez!

19 Weeks 2 Days, originally uploaded by punquin.

BOY! Wow! I am the girliest-girl ever, so this will be the adventure of a lifetime. I’m not surprised. I’ve only had boy dreams and kept calling him “he” without thinking.

The ultrasound went well. Baby was moving like crazy, like always. She asked us if we wanted to know the sex before she headed in that direction, and she didn’t even have to tell me. I said “THAT’S A BOY! That is DEFINITELY a boy…” Sorry – I didn’t scan in the junk picture, heh.

She took a ton of measurements, but it still went by too fast. He’s got a big ‘ol noggin like his mommy. They estimated him a little big in general. Where exactly am I going to fit a big baby boy in my tiny body? Oh, my.

So baby boy has his head really low, smooshing my bladder. I’ve definitely been feeling that for the past couple of days! She had to struggle a bit to get all her brain shots. His rump is up on my right side nearer the top. It is the lump I see at night when I get all lop-sided. He was drumming and dancing so the hands and feet were all over the place. I was feeling most of it. A nice perk to being skinny!

They gave us a certificate for a free 4D scan which we’ll use at 28 weeks. My next OB appointment will be next week – the 20 week one.

19 Weeks, originally uploaded by punquin.

I’m 19 weeks along today! Almost halfway through. It’s going soooo slow! Now that I’m starting to show a bit, I’m hoping it will move faster.

I’ve been feeling the baby regularly for the past week. One night, baby even kicked hard enough for Danny to feel! There is still a lot of time between kicks, and I have to be sitting still or laying down. I can’t wait to feel the baby even more! I even like when he/she is stomping on my cervix. I just like knowing baby is in there…

19 weeks means I am about to find out the baby’s sex! My main concern with the ultrasound is seeing a healthy baby, but knowing the sex will help me bond with baby.

Get your guesses in now!

The bump at 17 weeks 6 days, originally uploaded by punquin.

Time is crawling along so slowly! Why do people keep telling me pregnancy goes fast? Maybe that will change?

I’ve been going back and forth between feeling okay and still having morning sickness. For the last few days, I’ve been okay. I’ve really started to grow, though. There is no sucking that in anymore. My clothing options are becoming quickly limited. I’m trying to alter clothes from my donation pile to work for now. Clothing gifts are welcome! :P

By the end of the month, we should know whether we are having a boy or a girl. Crazy! Any guesses?

I’ve started planning our annual Halloween party. It will be the week before, as usual, but on a Friday night. We will have out of town guest and want to keep the weekend free for other things. I’m excited! I love fall! I’ve decided on my Halloween costume, I just need to go to the fabric store for the parts I’ll be making.

17 Weeks

17 Weeks, originally uploaded by punquin.

I’m 17 weeks today! I’m still pretty small in the mornings, but once I eat my belly grows. There’s just no where for it to go but out. Other areas have certainly grown!

Why was I so quiet…

…for the past 4 months? We’re expecting! I know it is the norm for people to share the news at 12 weeks/3 months, but I just wasn’t quite ready. Growing a baby is rather nerve-wracking business! I’m no good at keeping my own secrets (others’ secrets? They’ll never drag it out of me!) I guess because I have shared so much of my life for so long. It was easier for me to just hide out until I was ready.

The belly is always bigger at night...

Things are going well, but it is still hard to wrap my mind around the fact that there is someone living inside of me. Kind of trippy. With each new milestone, it gets more real. We’ve heard the heartbeat twice now. Amazing! And seeing the baby dancing around at 12 weeks on the ultrasound screen was one of the best things I’ve ever seen. Can they just install a window in my belly? I’m starting to show, and so it was time to come out of hiding. That has made it quite real. I am excited for my belly to grow – I think pregnancy bellies are adorable. I’m trying not to get too worked up about the big ultrasound at the end of the month because then it will just be too hard to wait!

Clothing is starting to be a problem. I’ve grown boobs, plus my mini belly, and so my shirts are getting too short. I often just leave my jeans undone or held closed with a rubber band. I am still a couple weeks from being able to fit in maternity stuff, but I have my eye on some cute tops and sweaters. I’m a tiny gal, so hopefully I can buy some non-maternity stretchy tunics or short dresses to wear as tops.

I am definitely at the stage where I can see myself growing every day. Fun times!
