Snow!!

Wednesday, December 23rd, 2009

I like a bit of snow… I don’t like 2 feet of snow! Last weekend we got completely buried in an early blizzard. It started Friday night and didn’t stop until Sunday. The poor puppies are rather distraught that there is no grass or sidewalks anymore. There is barely a street because they didn’t do a good enough job plowing a lot of the road in our neighborhood and they froze over. But, Benny LOVED playing the the backyard. He leapt around like a deer and played hide-n-seek with his tennis ball. Every dive into the snow added to the little snowballs hanging off of his fur. He looked like the abominable snow man from the chest down. I had to camp out in front of a heater with towels and a brush to get him clean again. (Slide Show)

This is the BEST!!!, originally uploaded by punquin.

While I’m certainly not ready for snow yet, Benny is! He has been acting a fool all day whenever his feet hit the white stuff, so I eventually had to let him run out back till the crazies left him. Only then, did he finally have his morning poop. Crazy ass dog. He kecpt play-bowing to the snow.

Isn’t it March?

This blows, originally uploaded by punquin.

I thought is was March, but I guess around here that means it will be 78° one day and snowing the next. Crazy.

Yesterday was our 6th wedding anniversary! We had breakfast at iHop. Classy, right? Hey, it’s cheap and has decent food. Afterwards, we braved the outlet mall to find me some shoes for a wedding at the end of the month. We came home and I did some work fro a while. Around 8 pm we went to Cheesecake Factory for our anniversary dinner. We both ate too much of the guacamole appetizer and couldn’t finish our meals. Oops! Back at home we watched a dvd in bed.

Today we wanted to haul a load of garbage from the garage of the old house to the dump, but the dump for the county we live in now is closed Sundays. Grr.

Monday at 7:30 8:15 pm Benny and I have his first training class. Danny can’t make it. Does anyone who is free Monday evenings want to be my partner for the training class? Everyone else is bringing their spouse or a family member. I am looking forward to it. Benny is a spazz, but he does learn fast.

It is a mess outside! 3 or 4 inches of snow with a thick crust of snow on top. The ice is thick enough that unless I stomp, I slide around on top of it. I just took Benny out for a potty break and a car got stuck on our unplowed street. A man driving behind her had to help her turn and get parked. Took them 10 minutes to get that car 20 feet. I sure hope they plow soon! Luckily I can work from home most days.

The arm I fell on still hurts. It actually hurts a little more than it did a couple days ago. There is a constant ache, and a sharp pain if I do anything with it. However, I have a full range of movement (painful as it is) and the bruising and swell is light. It has been nearly a week – should it still hurt so much? (Brock – you are alway my medical advisor!) I did hit it really, really hard. Danny says I am fine since I can move it, but I am starting to worry something it wrong in there. I can’t go anywhere today anyway.

Nothing happening here for Valentine’s day. Danny doesn’t celebrate it. Some years I get him something anyway – usually some coffee for Starbucks or whatever, but the crappy weather has kept me from the stores the last few days. We are poor anyway. I don’t need anything to know he loves me. And, Benny said he’d be my Valentine – right after he finishes chewing on my shoe.

Snow!

It snowed last night, though only about an inch. Benny was restless. I took him out before bed at 11 pm, then he had to go out again at 1 am. It was silent and white outside. The rest of the night he kept waking up every now and then. By 6 am, if he was climbing up the inside of his crate and whining, all I had to do was lift my head and point at the ground and he would lay down again with a sigh. He is a smart boy. Very needy last night though.

I managed to get him to doze until 7 am when I leapt out of bed to shove the plastic bag of crate instructions under China’s mouth to catch her vomit. I’ve got skills. Poor girl threw up yesterday too. Her tummy is rumbling. The commotion woke Benny for good so I took him out back to pee and poop. If my coat was as warm as my bathrobe, I’d be in good shape.

After breakfast, I took each of them for a walk in the snow (they aren’t ready to walk side-by-side). They both had great fun in the snow.

I owe you all a post about California…

First Snow!
Originally uploaded by punquin.

We finally had our first snow of the season, after weeks of temperatures that kept jumping up into the 70′s. It was only an inch, but China enjoyed burrowing in it.

Danny and I are fighting off colds so we stayed home all weekend, resting and keeping our germs to ourselves. Hopefully, we will both be feeling all better by the time we leave for California early Thursday morning. Danny is in worse shape than I – I’ve managed to keep from coughing. I try not to, because once I start coughing, I’m coughing for weeks.

Tomorrow I have to work, work, work, do chores, and go to the dentist. Ick times 3!
