Happy July!

Monday, July 6th, 2009

Time is going both super fast and super slow. How is it already July 6th? I didn’t do anything exciting this weekend. Danny went to a party our friends held a couple hours away. It is easier for him to spend the night out there. As I am not a partier and don’t even drink, I hung out at home with the puppies. We went up to be as soon as the fireworks started so I could keep Benny calm.

China currently has a UTI. She has had one before, poor girl. It is a struggle to get her to take her pills. I had to use cottage cheese when I gave them to her. Last night it was Danny’s turn and Benny ended up eating her pills! Ugh! They aren’t cheap – $60 for 15 of them. He managed to get her to take most of a dose eventually. Looks like it is back to cottage cheese tonight.

My birthday is just 8 days away! If you want to send me a birthday card (or presents! :P ) you can send it here: 43300-116 Southern Walk Plaza #234, Broadlands, VA 20148-4463. I don’t know if we’ll end up doing  party or anything this year. I was thinking of doing a cookout, but I’m not sure. My birthday is on a Tuesday and I have a work even the weekend following it, so we’d either have to do it this weekend coming up, or the end of the month. I’m not sure.

I am currently working from home 24-7. The are doing construction at work and it will involve my office door moving walls. I am a little bummed that I will lose the natural light I used to get through my door, but oh well. Im just glad I’ll still have an office to go to! I am going to be rather lonely and stir-crazy after all this time at home.

How are you guys doing? I just figured ut how to get my LiveJournal friend list in my feed reader so I can catch up. However, I still won’t see our entries if it is protected. I just haven’t have time to read a million websites a day!

My Brain Has Already Left…

Wednesday, April 29th, 2009

Is it vacation time yet? because I think my brain has already left… This morning I tried to wash my face with shampoo. And, seeing as it is peppermint tea tree shampoo, THAT got my attention!

I made it to 29 braids left to redo by the time I went to bed last night. I could ahve done more, but my nails keep getting these rips in the side halfway down my nail bed – too far down for me to be able to cut them for a couple weeks. I try my best to cut off the rips from the side and file the rest of the way in, but I’m filing into raw flesh and can’t get all of it. Leaves my nails lopsided and misshapen, but at least it stops the constant snagging on things (hair especially).

This morning I only got one braid redone before work because I got cause up in pulling out potential clothes for our trip. I never know what to pack. Can I just have a portal installed in my bag that opens up to my closet at home while I’m away? Oohh! Then I’d be able to bring the puppies! :P

I let myself get stressed out this morning looking at my work and thinking of all I have to do before Saturday. An optic migraine started instantly at the thought. Ugh! I talked through all my upcoming projects with my wonderful marketing manager coworker and I’m feeling a lot better about it all now. Still, my time will be short. 28 braids to redo, a standing commitment tonight to practice Rock Band 2 with 3 others, helping out at the front desk of work 5 -7 tomorrow… *breath and relax*

Today at work we hosted Sam the lab/golden mix’s 5th birthday party. He brought in Frosty Paws for his friends. Here are some of the cute photos I took!

Monday on a Tuesday

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009

Today is Monday on a Tuesday for me. I had 7 days straight of work or work events, so I took Monday off. Laura stayed over after our work event and we went hunting for supplies forthe birthday party I am hosting for her in April. We made good progress! We just need a few more goodies and the craft supplies, then we’ll be ready.

Don’t really have anything exciting to talk about since I’ve been so busy with work. We need to grocery shop so I am trying to plan out meals and food lists. Does anyone have suggestions on good vegan or low-dairy veggie meals that are inexpensive and quick/easy to make? Bonus points if a meat item can also be prepared to go with it so Dan doesn’t have to eat veggie with me.

Busy Weekend Ahead

Friday, March 20th, 2009

Ahhh, bed! I just crawled in under the covers and the warmth feels heavenly. Can’t go wrong with the simple pleasure of a warm bed on a cold night. Speaking of which, isn’t it supposed to be spring now? Why is it 30° F??

My day was a normal work-from-home day (I typically do 3 days in my office and two from home per week.) I walked the dogs, made coffee, got to work down in our home office. In the evening, Ivan came over. We took the dogs out fora walk and I just about froze my ears off. Brr! For dinner, we got tacos – black bean for me. I heart tacos! After dinner I spent some time working on customizing the sidebar of my blog. I’m really liking my new gallery plugin, though I’ve only used it for one gallery so far. Before bed, I finally got to play some Rock Band 2! I’ve had a cold for a week and hadn’t been able to play.

Tomorrow (and Sunday), I’ll be face painting at my work’s booth at the Super Pet Expo. Hopefully it goes well. It’s been a while since I’ve face painted at an event, and it’s been many years since my days of doing it on the weekends for cash. I will be limited to several doggy designs to fit the company theme. Stop by and say hi if you are there in the afternoon! I don’t plan on bringing Benny on Saturday, but maybe on Sunday.

Time to read and relax in bed!

Super Pet Expo

Thursday, March 19th, 2009

Face Painting Supplies This weekend, I’ll be face painting silly dog designs in my company’s booth at the Super Pet Expo in Chantilly, VA. We are having a whole kids’ corner this year.

Stop by and say hi! You can buy the tickets online to save some money. Use the coupon code VIP at checkout.

I’ve had a cold for a week now, but I am starting to feel better. It doesn’t help that the weather keeps changing wildly. Since I am working all weekend, I’ll be taking Monday off to rest.

Happy St Patrick’s Day!

Tuesday, March 17th, 2009

Happy St Patrick’s Day! It’s also my 8th wedding anniversary. Today was another cute day at work at the doggy day care. We hosted a special red head play group for the holiday. I took pictures and made a cute collage for the parents to take home.

In not so good news, apparently, our brand new FiOS internet is out. I thought I broke my stupid PC laptop’s connection in the morning when I did an update, but it turns out it was the whole network. Boo. I guess a tech has to come out tomorrow. I’m hoping it is early in the day so I can work from home as planned.

A Nice Surprise…

Monday, March 9th, 2009
all grown up!

all grown up!

Benjamin and I had a nice surprise when we arrived at work today. The photographer who had taken pictures of Benny at an event when he was a baby, Lee Anderson, had brought new photos to hang in our lobby. The one they hung behind the front desk was of Benny! So handsome…

And, to make it an even nicer surprise, they had left a full-size print of the photo on card stock back in my office. I am excited to get a frame and hang in in our living room!

Party Room, originally uploaded by punquin.

I’ve been super busy. We have our Halloween/Rock Band party coming up on Saturday and I am really OCD about party planning. But, when I chose the date, I didn’t realize it would be the same weekend as a big annual conference for work. Oops. That meant I’ve had to do as much cleaning/shopping/decorating as possible over the past two weeks. But, add to that the 9-10+ hour work days that are to be expected when we are about to throw a big conference. Oy.

I’ve been working on setting up the craft room all week, and it’s almost done. I have samples of the projects done, but I still need to make little signs. I still have the photo booth I made for my birthday party. I can’t set that completely up until the day of the party because it used my laptop.

Today was the first chance I got to work from home all week, so as soon as I stopped working for the night, I started chores. I inhaled vegan mac & cheeze while standing at the counter, wrapped all my fancy candy pretzels, vacuumed all three floors (plus stairs), bathed both dogs, gathered all the trash, and did 3.5 loads of laundry. Sore.

Tomorrow afternoon I will head to the hotel in Fairfax where the conference will be held. I’ll be staying there – the first time I’ve stayed in a hotel room alone. I head home Saturday morning at some point. Unfortunately, because I am staying both nights, I have to miss the awards ceremony Saturday afternoon to get home and do the final setup.

My first task when I get home will be to bake cupcakes. Dan has agreed to take on the rice crispy treats, guacamole, and sour cream dip (vegan for me). I’m recycling my mermaid costume, so I’ve spent no time on that beyond making sure I have all the parts ready. I know I’m going to be racing around like crazy come Saturday, but I’m sure the party will be fun!

Earrings!

Friday, July 11th, 2008

Earrings, originally uploaded by punquin.

I got a birthday present yesterday! A beautiful pair of silver earrings arrived from my Amazon wishlist courtesy of my wonderful bro & sis in-law in California! Thank you, thank you!! I’ve been trying to find some Celtic French hook earrings in silver for a while now in stores and was about to give up and order online.

It’s Friday!! Last night I got about 80 d0g biscuits baked for the charity d0g wash and bake sale on Sunday. Ran out of time to do more. Today I wanted to update my iPod before going to work, but the software wasn’t available yet. Luckily, I have plenty to do to distract myself until I get home.
